How could we pass on two of these nautical beauties? We found a piece of driftwood at the beach that we will have assistance wiring the two pendants to and then hang over the dining table.
Remember how I tested a chair with Paris Gray by Annie Sloan? I love the base that it gave, but wanted to add a touch of texture. Instead of testing out my aging method on the chair, I took some old frames from moving boxes, and gave them a quick coat of the Paris Gray.
Once they were dry, I rubbed a coat of clear wax all over them. After that set for 30 minutes, I came too Annie Sloan's dark wax and rubbed it into the clear wax. This produced an amazing texture and definition of wood grain and details. It resembled the same aging on the lights!
Hopefully it will produce the same result on the chairs and table. For now, I popped some much needed photo updates in the frames and put them on display in the dining room. That creamy yellow of the walls is the perfect compliment to pick up the warmth of the dark wax.
What other things have you used with dark wax? Any tips for beginners?
