stork en route...

Quote of the day...

Dar: I just realized we are having a baby.

Brett: You JUST realized that? {As he points to my belly that is literally the size of a beach ball.}

Dar: {Taking a moment to let his comment sink in...} Yes, and I am suddenly motivated to do stuff!

So, let's catch everyone up to speed. Brett and I are growing our family from two to three! It was a huge surprise for us, and has definitely been a bumpy road thus far. After about 145 days of being slave to the porcelain throne, I have finally made it to the third trimester and seem to be turning a corner. It's no surprise then that I have really been disappointed with the pregnancy experience; while I always dreamed I would be dancing around like a pregnancy unicorn with sunshine and rainbows, I couldn't have been more wrong.

Coming home from work and being laid out nearly everyday took it's toll on my project list and spring yard work. Now that I can hold in my dinner, I have caught the nesting bug. Maybe it is out of sheer panic that Baby K is about to be here in less than 2.5 months and I have a crib in a box, 3 onesies in my emergency bag and about 4 random outfits given to me by my mom. Baby K has also been equipped with a cuddly animal from my Grams. All the essentials, right? Yikes, I have a lot of things to do...

First on the list was cleaning out the office we have been using as a junk room to hold the unpacked boxes. Last week I unpacked boxes that I had packed since my move to Florida in 2009 and some of Brett's boxes from his time at MSU. What a trip down memory lane. Favorite item that was discovered - a Britney Spears cassette tape from her first album, Baby One More Time. Of course I have been listening to it in my new mommy mobile equipped with a tape deck.

Lucky for us, I love the blank slate that this room presents itself to be. The walls are painted an off white with a beautiful vintage glass chandelier. {Yes, I even had the energy to clean it for the first time last week.} I love the soft feminine touch it will add to the nursery since Baby K is a girl! Here is how the nursery/office currently sits, complete with the crib in a box. Shameless plug - those mid century refinished vintage Campaigner pieces are for sale here.

Let's take a minute to appreciate that light fixture...

Can I also point out this beautiful gilded mirror I got for anniversary gift from my better half...which was also presented with a jogger from a garage sale he ran across in his travels. He is a man after my own heart.

Sticking with the soft vibe going on in our house, I am planning to do the walls in a light blush pink color. My littlest sister helped me select some swatches at Menards, and we haven't decided what to go with. Overall, with the crib being white, some gold touches and a grey dresser that will act as a changing table - that is the only direction I have going so far.

What are your thoughts? Here are the four colors hung next to the door jam and the light switch so you have a color reference. This is natural evening light.
