meet the wingback twins...

Before I tackle my first real re-upholsery project {green mossy the Victorian couch}, I am gong to try a smaller piece that is not quite as old. This will help me perfect my technique and prepare for the huge undertaking of an entire couch. Part of my ambitious self says go for the couch right now, but then I imagine it sitting in my living room with all its inside parts exposed.

For now, I am starting with two wing-back chairs that need worn out fabric replaced. The Wingback Twins compliment the couch's shape and will go nicely in the living room together. Going with a neutral palette will definitely help that, and possibly adding a finish or changing the color of the legs will add some customized flair.

Alright, I have this huge project...now where do I start? Have I ever re-upholstered a wing back chair? Absolutely no, but am I certain I could figure it out? Yes. As long as I carefully dissect how it was put together it should be a piece of cake to reconfigure. So says my inner engineer...

Luckily, I have an aunt that knows her way around a piece of furniture with fabric. When asked what would be a necessary tool, she said an air compressor with a staple gun. Perfect, power tools should not be hard to convince my husband to buy.

As you can see from the photos below, the blue velveteen fabric desperately needs to be replaced. One small problem stands between me and getting started on this project...okay well, keeping me from recovering the chairs. Nothing is stopping me from starting to rip them apart.

The present road block is that I have no design scheme whatsoever for my living room! First things first, I'll have to plan that. For now, meet the twins before my ambitious, reupholstering, self-proclaimed engineer self gets my hands on them.
