baby gallery wall...

While I might be satisfied to sit and stare at a light pink wall all day, I am sure Baby K needs something more stimulating to help with brain development. Time for a gallery wall!

After some Pinterest inspiration, here is how I imagine the layout looking above the crib.

Without wanting to break the bank, I headed over to Community Action House's resale shop in Holland to dig for some great frames that could be re-purposed while supporting a great cause. They had a plethora, and just the items I was looking for. Don't be fooled, that one of the far right is a deep set frame so I can put 3-dimensional items in it. For the beginning of this project, the only thing that mattered was shape and size. The frame itself will get a paint face-lift.

To add fillers to the space I headed to the Dollar Tree and grabbed a few 4x6 and 5x7 frames with mats. Again, color doesn't matter since they will be painted. So the whole project in total is going to cost me about $15 plus time. Hopefully I don't get nervous to put holes in the freshly painted wall.

Before I decided the paint colors, I laid the frames out on the floor to determine the balance and layout I wanted. This helped me decide what colors to change the frames too. The mix-matched gold tones ended up being kind of cool so I left the two already metallic frames. Others will be painted white, gold and grey.

For the larger shadow box frame, I am putting actual arrows in the display. This required some new mat board and mounting board as well. This piece of artwork was also at one time worth $89.99 from JC Penney. What a steal for $3.95!

Since the process to create a gallery wall has lots of steps, I'll post how I got the perfect layout and made sure things transferred easily to the wall. Trust me, some handy Pinterest tutorials will be guiding my way!
